Congregational Feedback Sessions Planned
mportant progress has been made over the summer months by both the Writing Group and the Rector Search Committee. Feedback sessions are planned to bring the congregation up to date.
The Writing Group, formed after the second visioning session, has crafted a list of Core Values and also a Mission Statement, an outgrowth of the earlier sessions. The Rector Search Committee has taken this input, along with the results from the parish-wide survey conducted in May and input from the Vestry, to develop four main goals and responsibilities to use in searching for and calling a new Rector.
Two consecutive Forums are planned, after the 10 AM service on September 26th and again on October 3rd, to share this information and have discussion. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. A portion of the information will be presented at the first Forum, with the remainder to be presented at the second Forum. It was decided to publish the parish survey results ahead of time, so they could be reviewed in depth by those so interested, but they will be presented again at the second Forum.
To accommodate those attending the 8 AM service and not wishing to attend the later forums, a special, abbreviated feedback session will be held on Sunday, September 26th at 9 AM in the Lounge, with a light breakfast being served.
The Search Committee also wishes to inform you that, as of this writing, we are still on target to begin posting for our rector opening during the month of September. We will have our previously shared timeline available for review at the second Forum session.

Search Committee Work Intensifies Over Summer
ver the months of summer, your Rector Search Committee will be busy completing the necessary steps to prepare for the Listing Phase of our process. The listing phase, which is when we will begin publicizing our job opening, is expected to begin in September.
During June, July and August, we will be completing and publishing the Narrative Profile, and finalizing the Position Profile. The Narrative Profile, which will be both a section of our website and also an overview written document, will include the following: a history of the congregation, a description of the community and the congregation, a “state of the church” report including finances, written descriptions of our various ministries, congregational goals and objectives, as well as the responsibilities and qualities we are seeking in our next rector. Information from the Charrette sessions and the parish survey are most important inputs for this document.
Also to be developed is the CDO Position Profile. This is a standardized format developed by the Church Deployment Office (CDO) to succinctly list all pertinent criteria about our position. According to the dictionary, succinctly means “compactly, with concise and precise brevity”. The Position Profile will be used to query candidates with complimentary skills and search requirements.
So, we have a lot to do over the summer! Please continue to feel free to contact anyone on the search committee to provide your thoughts and opinions.
